Kiminte Kimhekim made his name at fashion house Balenciaga. On Monday, the South Korean designer made his Paris debut.
Known for his use of giant bows, he has already caught the eye of Hollywood star and fashion icon Elle Fanning. She wore a pink transparent dress belted with a giant bow to the premiere of her new film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil last month.
Kimhekim’s show, called “Buy it if you can,” mixed the chima, the traditional Korean skirt, with skimpy offerings.
“The most important lesson I have learned is to continue to do what you want to do or you will easily be forgotten,” he told the media.
The other Paris newcomer was Japan’s Maiko Kurogouchi, who eight years after leaving the “King of Pleats” Issey Miyake, unveiled her own Mame label. She paraded her collection for the Spring-Summer 2020 Ready-to-Wear season.
